April arrives in Philadelphia with several options and opportunities to spend time with the family while we enjoy the change in weather and the pleasant warmth that spring brings. Several festivals are kicking off in the city, and here I share just a few of them.
THE PHILADELPHIA SCIENCE FESTIVAL
This annual event, organized by the Franklin Institute, will take place from April 25th to May 3rd. There are nine (9) days of celebrations, with more than 100 events and various science and technology activities that will take place in various parts of the city, in restaurants, parks, museums, libraries and other places. The complete schedule can be found on the Science Festival website.
Events include:
Astronomy Night (Astronomy Night) April 25 at 7:30 in various locations.
Discovery Day (Discovery Day) Saturday, April 26, various times and locations.
*There will also be Spanish-language science activities at Hunting Park this day.
Explorer Sunday (Explore Sunday) Sunday, April 27, various times and in 15 locations.
Mess Fest (Mess Festival) Sunday, April 27 at 1:00 pm at Smith Memorial Playground.
Science Carnival on the Parkway (Science Carnival on the Parkway), Saturday, May 3, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
Science Night at the Ballpark (Science Night at the Ballpark), Tuesday, April 29 at 5:00 pm at the Ballpark.
Science Carnival after hours (Nighttime Science Carnival), April 25 at 6:30 pm at the Franklin Institute.
Science Crawl, Brain Games (Brain Games), Sunday, April 27 at 4:00 p.m. in Old City
Love, Lust and Loathing: the science behind our stronger emotions/ (Loving, pleasuring, and hating; the science behind our strong emotions). Wednesday, April 30 at 6:00 p.m. in Frankford Hall.
DIY Science: Fermentation. (Fermentation, DIY). Thursday, May 1st at 6:00 p.m. at DiBruno Bross.
