Easy Chili for the Whole Family

This chili recipe is super easy, delicious, and very kid-friendly because it doesn't contain jalapeño or other hot sauce. If you'd like, you can add jalapeño to the seasoning or another hot sauce when serving.

A good alternative for lunch or dinner when we don't have much time to cook.

Chili de Carne

receta de chili

1.5 lb of ground beef
1/2 cup red or green bell pepper
½ tsp. garlic
1 cup finely chopped onions
½ tsp. ground meal
1.5 teaspoons of chili powder
1 bay leaf
1 can of finely chopped tomatoes
1 can of tomato sauce
1 can of kidney beans
2 cups of water
Salt and pepper to taste

  1. A dressing is made with the onion, garlic and pepper cut into small squares.
  2. When the onion becomes transparent, add the ground beef, stir to combine the ingredients, and let it cook for a few minutes (7 to 10 minutes).
  3. Then add all the other ingredients except the beans (we call them "frejoles" in Peru). Let it cook for 45 minutes over low heat. If you leave it on high heat or for too long, the chili juice may dry out. If you like, you can add a little tomato juice.
  4. The next step is to add the beans. If you like, you can add half an extra can of beans. Let everything combine for about ten minutes.
  5. Serve with grated cheddar cheese and a spoonful of sour cream.

Enjoy!
