Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark at Camelback, year-round fun

It was during our first family visit to Camelback Mountain in the Poconos last summer that we learned about the construction of a huge new resort with indoor and outdoor water parks. Unfortunately, and I remember very well, due to a storm that forced us to end our big day at Camelback, we were unable to visit this construction, which from a distance looked like a mega project.

Our curiosity and eagerness to know what the new project at Camelback Mountain had in store finally came to an end when we attended the grand media opening of Aquatopia Camelback Resort last Thursday. And if we thought we'd had enough of what we'd seen so far at Camelback Beach and Camelback Mountain Resort, we were wrong...

Aquatopia Camelback Resort en los Poconos

Camelback Lodge and Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark opened their doors to the media and the grand opening of the first phase of this $163 million project, which will make this resort one of the largest hotels in the country, offering year-round skiing and indoor and outdoor entertainment.

At the opening ceremony, we heard the owners and creators of this project talk about how having a vision (not a dream) is the path to achieving our goals. They opened the park by diving into the water in a very unusual way, then invited the first visitors, a group of children from a local school who filled the place with joy and laughter.

Outside, there was still some snow falling, the day was cold for spring, in the Poconos the warm weather is still long in coming, however inside Aquatopia, the temperature is 84 degrees all year round, so there was no excuse to enjoy the water, the slides, the pools, always under the care of several certified lifeguards who surround the water park, in addition to having life jackets on hand for the safety of visitors.

Camelback Resort features three restaurants—Hemispheres, Neptunes, and Trails End Pub & Grille—with a variety of lunch and dinner options, from steak to sushi.

We really enjoyed the children's and family fun area. It has a large arcade area, another area for mini-golf, and above it, we can see the zip lines or rope walks for anyone who dares. I tried it but didn't get very far. Maybe I'll try it again someday. In addition to all these activities within the resort, we also added rock climbing and two laser tag areas!

There's more...much more...

A 20,000 square foot conference area, a spa, fitness center, gift shops, a ceramic painting area, with Polka Dot Pots (one of my favorite spots while the kids played in the water with their dad).

Oh! And I haven't mentioned the hotel yet...ready? The building is eight stories high, and the hotel has 453 rooms of all sizes and all amenities. Those who visited had a spectacular view of the mountains.

I'd rather invite you to watch this short video...

The list is long, this resort could very well be the destination for many families who want everything in one place, and for us, without having to travel long distances to spend a few days with the family having lots of fun!

Camelback Lodge opens to the public on May 1st, and reservations can be made on its website.

Clarification: This post was not paid for. We were invited to the media day, which included use of the facilities and meals, as well as a future stay at the site.
