Valentine's Day was always a reason to celebrate when my Spanish playgroup was active. We never missed an opportunity to celebrate, and we even celebrated things that weren't customary in our countries. Valentine's Day is one of them. In my country, it's known as a day of friendship and love, but the love between couples (it's called Valentine's Day) weighs more heavily than friendship. However, here, this date is an opportunity to show love to your partner, family, and friends.
So in the month of February, the moms in the group dedicated themselves to planning our party to give thanks for the beautiful friendship that existed between us and our children.
The rule was that everyone brought a card (written in Spanish, of course) and could include candy or some surprise. Then we made something like stations, where we had a table with crafts, another with food and drinks, and our inevitable piñata 🙂 at least that way they could practice shooting properly!
My children and I usually made sweets to give to their friends in their group, at school, their teachers, etc. This year, the amount will be smaller, but the love will be just as much, if not more. Anything you do with your children is time well spent, no matter what. Here's a sample of our "art" 🙂

Everything you made is beautiful. Those cookies are worth a good bite; they look delicious!
In my country (the Dominican Republic), it's also known as Valentine's Day. It was a lovely gesture of you to make these cookies. They turned out beautiful.
